No More Print Shaming!

Wearing prints from the same colour family are so last season and since its 2016 I believe, fashion has emerged in a new and more refined way. In this era people would do anything to put a stop at the stereotypes and go out of their way to stop all the 'shamings' that they have previously encountered by  doing blog posts, posting videos, pictures etc. So here I am to stop print shaming.

So, what is basically print shaming and why people are oppose to the idea of trying completely different prints in different colours? It's basically because we would end up looking fat and bigger than our true size. However isn't the idea of fashion to play with different patterns, prints, fabrics, styles, design and accessories? So, I don't know why people are oppose to the idea of trying different prints in different colours and patterns! If you are worried about prints making you look bigger than what you are try different accessories to divert the attention from the large print and making your whole look proportioned and balance.

Check out my pictures below to let me know about what you think about my mixing of two different prints in completely different colours. I opted for dotted pajamas and check print top.

If you are heavy in the top just like me, divert the attention away from your prints by opting for big top handle structured bag in light colour. I opted for beige top handle structured bag from Aldo.

As I have mentioned accessories are key element in your outfit that could do wonders and even make you look lean, try unexpected colours when it comes to accessories. Go for lighter accessories if your prints look darker. Wear light colour accessories on or near the narrowest part of your body! For example since my hips are narrowest part of my body I went for powder blue shell cuff bracelet to divert the attention away from my print and make my body look proportional.

Blending your accessories with your print is also the trick to be fashion forward and lean..... Go for accessories with colours that are similar to your prints. Not necessarily you have to go for same colour accessories as your printed separates but wear something that blends naturally. It's a trick to make the prints look surprisingly good. I opted for light green statement necklace which blends with my printed top
In my outfit there are not three or four but six colours (black, brown, beige, powder blue, Crimson, light green) and they surprisingly blends making me look leaner and proportional. The trick is not in the prints, cuts, shapes and silhouette but on the accessories that are adorned which executed well.
Let me what you think about my outfit!

Colour Combo: Peach + White + Red + Brown

Hello, Fashion lovers! Summer is officially here and I am more excited than ever because this year I got more of spring weather than sunny and warm weather. So, this pictures were taken last week before the start of warm, hot and humid season.

Check out the pictures and let me know what you think about today's fashion tips.

Summer is all about vibrant colours, white and pastels and with that in mind I came up with a new colour combo to follow this summer: peach+red+white+brown
I added a fall colour, brown as well to my perfect summer colour combination look to experiment.

I wanted to make my look feminine and modern and therefore I made sure there are cute elements to my outfit: tiered top and bow shoe lace.

To protect myself from wind I wore my brown cardigan keeping the front open. I went for something dark at the top for a slimming effect.

As for accessories I went for something glitzy to match the buttons of my cardigan.

Let me know what you like and dislike about today's post, hoping to hear from you soon.

Look Of The Week: Meeting His Parents

Hello!!! Fashionholics!

It's weekend! Starting today every Saturday I am going to bring Look of the week.

What you are going to find here is an easy solution to what you would be wearing to a particular occasion, event, on weekend or just on a casual day.

So, today, "my look of the week" is.......drumroll.....drumroll......."Meeting His Parents"

So, many of us who are meeting our date's parents have encountered this situation of fretting over whether to go conservative or dress up according to what your boyfreind thinks is right. Well, some of us would go extreme and dress up like plain Jane to impress his parents. On the other hand there are rest of us who do not care about whatever people think and would bring out the inner diva by opting for something unexpected! So, what happens in the end either we end up being overdressed or underdressed.

Do not fret it's time to take the matter in our hands and bring about a permanent change in the way we all dress up when meeting his parents.

So, I take it as a challenge to come up with a style solution for all the Fashionholics out there.

So, the first question you ask.........
Should I go for conservative?
My answer: Yes, but with a touch of modernism
Second question you ask.......
Should I go for trend or basic?
My answer: Balancing both
Your Third and final question might be......
What should I wear when I don't know how his parents are or what they prefer?
My answer: timeless pieces with a touch of your very own style statement.

So, I am here to give fashion advice to those of you who are invited to meet your boyfriend's parents for the first time. Well, the situation is pretty pressurized for those of you who do not know the place where you would be meeting them.

So, my step by step fashion rules are:

1. A timeless peasant style blouse in solid colour is perfect
2. Too many bracelets and accessories are distracting, so a big no no.
3. A statement necklace is a yes! Make sure it's not clashing with your top....you want it to be visible.
4. Since midi pencil skirts are feminine and conservative,it's an appropriate choice.
5. Mixing prints are fun! Go for a printed skirt and printed bag like this polka dot one below.
6. When choosing your shoe go for basic colour like black, white or brown in comfortable material
7. If you are on the shorter side, prints that are vertical are mandatory for you ( check out the skirt below)
8. To be on the safe side contrasting colour always works than clashing one like this yellow skirt and Crimson top.
9. Remember that platform elongates your leg and are comfortable to walk around.
10. Add your own style statement....it can be orange lips, polka dot bag, moto jacket...etc.

However if you are not a skirt person, go for dress pants, cigarette pants or even culotte, the trick is to balance one trendy item with a timeless one. Always go for heels until you know that the place you are going to meet them is an outdoorsy one. Finally the biggest and the most cliche fashion tip is known by all of us....it's to be yourself and smile.

So, this was the very first look of the week....hoping to hear from you soon. Let me know what you like about this weeks "look of the week" and also what other "look of the week" you want me to blog about.

Xoxo.

Fashion Tip: Utility + Feminity

Hey Fashionholics!

It's been a long time I don't get to write because I have been extremely busy with school work. So, I am done with exams ....when I woke up today in the morning I decided and promised myself to give my blog which I love the most (and have been missing lately) more time than anything.

This is a late post and the pictures ware taken last week, so rather than calling it the outfit of the day, the term outfit of last week suits more.

I love utility fashion, it's inspired by wartime and generally the colours are khaki or military green. As spring is most colourful season where fashion creativity is enhanced, I thought why not mix the trend utility with something feminine like this peplum top. Well, it's basically a peplum dress, I tucked the dress in my pant and made it look like a top. I also wore white zip up shirt underneath to give it more like 30s inspired vintage look and finished off the look with colour block Crimson shoe which matches with the tiny floral print of my peplum top.

So, my fashion tip of the day: Utility + Feminity

Read my tips to mix utility with feminity

1. Same colour family: Same colour family is hard to dress but when done right it adds inches to your height. Go for shades of baby pink, onion red and crimson in your outfit to make you  look leaner and longer.

2. Precious stone + vintage inspired: pendent handed down to you by your great grandmother or your mom have sentimental value to you. As precious as your pendent is, it would look marvellous if you follow your grandmother or your mom's footsteps and imitate their vintage inspired fashion. In this case I went for 70s inspired wide leg utility pant, white zip up shirt underneath peplum top and my ruby pendant. Try something like vintage polka dot frocks with a beautiful pendant.

3. Floral + utility: As I said before utility dressing can be more interesting and fashion forward if you go for something ladylike or feminine rather than menswear inspired. Go for utility jacket with tiered skirt or you can try floral print jacket and utility inspired maxi dress this spring.

4. Orange and brown: I absolutely love this brown vintage watch and I thought of pairing it with one of my street finds...Orange bracelet.  As I have said earlier in one of my post doubling up your accessories work and if you choose contrasting colour like orange and brown it definitely would turn heads in your way! Thinking what other ways you can teem up these two colour? Go for orange scarf and brown leather jacket in winter. This spring go for orange tank top with brown suede skirt or try orange heels and brown shorts.

5. Colour blocks in your feet: tired of colour block dress or tops, why not opt for a colour block shoe?

These were the latest fashion tips by me after a long time. Let me know which one is your favourite in the comments. Love to hear from you soon.
Xoxo and remember it's all about being fashion forward.
